UPPER BACK PAIN
Pain in the upper back can be common nowadays, mostly due to increased sitting from our day to day.
Sitting encourages a protracted shoulder position, increased thoracic kyphosis, and a forward head posture.
This means our thoracic spine becomes stiff, our scapulothoracic muscles become over-lengthened and develop painful trigger points, our pectoralis muscles get tight, and the muscles around our neck and upper back work overtime to hold our head up against gravity.
All of this can cause intense pain throughout the upper back. However, all of these factors can be addressed with proper mobility and strengthening.
